Local artist chosen for 2008 People's Choice Award in Bristol sculpture competition

December 05, 2008

Art in Public Places 2008 is pleased to announce Val Lyle's "Feminine Entwinement" as the People's Choice Award for the 2008-2009 outdoor sculpture competition. "Feminine Entwinement" may be viewed at the farmers' market in downtown Bristol Tennessee until August 2009.

Upon winning Lyle said, "I find it hard to express my joy at being included in this exhibition." And that "This has lead to several new opportunities for me. I am deeply appreciative."

Lyle, born in Johnson City Tennessee and raised in nearby Knoxville, became something of a globe trotter who found her way back home. Lyle said, "I'm one of the lucky ones. I've been able to go see some of the world, develop a deep appreciation for our unique area, and return to enjoy living in it." She continues the joy of living in the area by contributing to it with her unique and beautiful sculptures.
